Use the adapter to achieve the following functions:
1. External speakers, headphones; external moving microphones, electret microphones.
2. Use the emergency PTT button that comes with the adapter to launch.
3. Use the PTT socket of the adapter to connect the PTT switch or the foot switch for transmitting operation.
4.Using the CAT port of the adapter, it has two channels with the CAT that comes with the machine to implement operations such as communication with the computer and communication with the antenna (FT-817, FT-818 does not have this function, only FT-857, FT- 897).

(Note: The connector uses the solenoid-type hand wheat 8-core wire that comes with the radio as the input terminal connection. When using, remove the cable plug from the MH-31 hand wheat and insert it into the connector.)
Setting of jumper in the machine:
* Before setting the jumper in the machine, use the hexagonal wrench delivered with this product to disassemble the panel on the side of the radio connection and pull out the PCB board. Be careful not to lose the aluminum PTT button.
1.MIC MODE: Set the external microphone properties. When an electret microphone is used, the left side is shorted (EC); when a moving microphone is used, the right side is shorted (MC).
2.PHONE MODE: Set the properties of the external headset. When using mono headphones or speakers, short the left side (MONI); when using stereo headphones, short the right side (STEREO).
FT-857, FT897 Handset CAT function opening method:
1. Press and hold the FUNC key to enter the menu state.
2. Turn the SELECT knob to No. 59 menu.
3. Turn the shuttle, the menu mode will switch between NOR / RMT / CAT.
4. Adjust to CAT mode, press and hold FUNC to return, the setting is complete.
Wiring tips:
The radio PHONE is connected to the adapter PHONE using a matching 3.5mm to connect the recording cable. In order to ensure the cleanliness of the desktop, the recording cable can be passed through the middle of the radio cable of the radio.
